I've been having the same issue when trying to open any in-game menu (cooking, shopping, getting nails done, etc.). I tried updating all of my mods multiple times to no avail. After reading this thread I took Twisted Mexi's T.O.O.L. Mod out of my game and that fixed it for me! hope this maybe helps someone.
