Sim eats but the hunger does not subside

Maybe I ran into a bug, however, I am not sure.

2 Sim from the same family whom I will call [A] and [B] for convenience. [A] goes to work, [B] I have him travel to another neighborhood. While [B] is still away from home (and is the active one) [A] returns home from work. I have [B] return home, and [A] stands outside the house hungry. I switch to [A] and click on the refrigerator to get the leftovers. None of the dishes I make him eat soothes his hunger; the bar remains stuck on the yellow color. [A] is a mermaid.
I play from PC. Latest patch 1.90 + hotfix. No mods, but a couple of CC hairs.
I've seen similar posts in the bug section but mine looks a little different.
