Sim is unable to paint when fruit/veg/flowers are in inventory

Whenever my sim has any kind of fruit/flowers/produce in their inventory, it prevents them from painting. I can still interact with the easel and put it in my inventory, however, whenever i try to get her to paint, its like I never selected the interaction. I have tried it on multiple saves, with and without mods enabled, changed settings, reset the save, and it still does not work. I have to take all of the garden items out of my sims inventory in order for her to paint!
