Sim paints same painting and keep walking away b/c of cat

When I tell my sim to paint a large impressionism painting she always paints the one with the little yellow houses. In addition, she walks away repeatedly to go give her cat attention while she is painting so I constantly have to tell her to go back and finish the painting. I don't want to turn of autonomy because I have other sims in the household as well. Also I know that the cat is the reason she is walking away because when the cat ran away for the day, she stayed and painted an entire painting all at one time.
