@SimGuruModSquad: Custom Aspirations Don't Appear in "Select New Aspiration"

I'm trying to make a custom aspiration, but I've ran into a bit of a problem.

I added a new aspiration category, and a new aspiration track cloned from the Joke Star aspiration. It appears in CAS just fine.

(The microphone icon is only temporary, since I'm still in the early stages of creating the aspiration)

I tried giving my Sim the aspiration, and again it works fine.

However, the aspiration won't appear as an option in "Select New Aspiration" - the category just appears empty.

Is there any special steps I have to take to get it to appear there? Otherwise, what I've done so far seems to work fine.

UPDATE:

Now I'm having an even worse problem. When I have a Sim complete the first level of the custom aspiration, the screen slam appears but it doesn't transition to the next level. I don't know if the two problems are related, but they may well be. I can't continue making the mod until that's fixed.

    Hi @Zerbu

Are you still having issues with this? Make sure you include the SIMDATA resource in your mod, too.
  • Yeah, still having the problem. I was sure to include the SIMDATA (or just DATA as it's called by modders), but it doesn't fix the problem. :(

Any chance you can make your files available to me? Posting the XML would be ideal.

Also, just to be sure, this is unrelated to the issues you have pointed out in your newer thread, correct?
  • Sure, I've uploaded the files in this archive. I've also included the package file, just in case you need it:

As far as I know, the problems aren't related. I did have the problem I mentioned in the other thread, but when I used an FNV32 hash it worked fine. I don't think it has anything to do with the problem I mentioned in this thread though.

It seems like there are other occurrences of unexpected 64-bit instance IDs. Try converting all your values to 32-bits (the Aspiration Track, for instance). That might fix the problem.

Let me know how that goes.
  • That problem is fixed! Thanks! :D

At first I converted the aspiration track but that didn't work. I then tried the category, and it worked. Both the problem of the aspiration not appearing in the selector, and the problem of it not transitioning to the next level, are fixed. I was surprised, since that seemed to be the part that was working. Anyway, thanks for the help!

No problem, glad it worked. We are trying to understand the extent of the issue with 64-bit instance IDs. Stay tuned for some updates once we know more.
