sims 4 changed language, copied saves don't show up

hello

i changed the language of my sims 4

when i copy an old save file into the folder, it doesn't show up in the saves menu to select when i start the game

  • @LennyOgg   Apologies.  I'm a little confused since I'm not able to see your save files.  Please exit the game without saving.

You said you renamed the old file because of a conflict with an existing file name.  Is that correct?  If so, please try these steps.

    - Move both the file with the conflicting name and the old file that you renamed; either to your desktop or another clean folder for testing.  Edit: Also move all the ver files for each.

    - Rename the file with the conflicting name with a higher number: for example let's say the conflicting name is Slot_00000033.save maybe change it to Slot_00000050.save

    - Rename the older file back to its original name; for this example you would bring back the Slot_00000033.save name for the older file

Edit 2: You'll also need to rename the .ver files

    - Test to see if the old file loads properly now

  • @LennyOgg     Hi!  Please double check the folder that you copied your save file to.  It should be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.

  • yes, it is in the right folder. but it is a .ver file and not a .save file. that might be the problem(?)

@LennyOgg   That is correct.  The .ver files are recovery files, not full save files.  You'll need the .save file in order to play it.

  • ok the .save file shows up. but i had to rename it because the game crated a save file with the same name so i renamed it before i could load it into the folder.

so the date says it's from 2021, but it's not the save from then because all the builds and sims i created after show up

@LennyOgg   You're welcome!  Though, in my haste, I forgot to mention the step where you should move only the older file with it's original name and corresponding ver files back to the saves folder before opening to test.  You probably figured that out on your own though. :-)   I do hope it works but please come back and update if it doesn't.
