@deucedeuce85 Errors when saving can be caused by outdated mods. Try testing without them, and without your saves visible to the game:
Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods and Saves folders to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Document > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem in a new game. If you don't, look for updates to the mods you were using; you can start in the Broken Mods thread.
