Hello NoaDani,
I know it is frustrating when this happens, as at one point or another we've all been there. The more EA offers free content or the more purchased content we have, plus additional updates to repair our games, the more we risk our CC and universal mods breaking.
Like you said, sometimes the 50/50 rule works, and other times... it will not. When this happened with me, I went into my Mods folder and took out all but one folder to test each folder at a time until I found the item or items causing the issue. Thing is I never assumed once I found the one cc/mod that was causing the issue, that I was done. I ended up testing each folder to ensure there were not multiple problems. Then more fun ensues with each folder found to be the culprit to try and figure out which one(s) within each folder it could be. If you have a lot of content in your folders, I would suggest removing your whole Mods folder to your desktop and create a fresh Mods folder within the game. Then take one folder at a time and take smaller groups of content/mods within each folder you have and test them to help you narrow it down.
I know it is time consuming, but that seems to be the price we pay for using content that is not originally from EA. Because of this and with more items being introduced and more fixes finally being addressed now with the special team they have to work on numerous bugs that are currently in our games... I am no longer using CC except for a few much-needed universal game mods. Personally, it is just too much work to keep track of what is broken or what could potentially risk my game not starting or working correctly. It's a shame with soooo many talented creators out there too.
I wish there was a simpler solution. There used to be a mod that would help you decipher which files were either broken or. package files were corrupt. But due to so many updates with the game, the mod was getting to be a pain to have to keep updating.
Best wishes.
