sims 4 menu crash

so I started a legacy challenge in the sims 4, have been playing for a few hours without saving, then I clicked on the “order groceries” option on her fridge, the screen went dark as if the menu was about to show, but the menu hasn’t come up!! I don’t wanna close the game because i’ll lose all my progress but I can’t do anything, my screen is just darker.
