@jallabeeee Please test without your mods or custom content, as in, move the Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. You don't need to save your progress; just let me know whether it works.
If it doesn't, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.
If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

so i'd deleted all cc and mods from my folder and made a new save and the game works completely fine. last time it had somehow resolved itself so I'm kind of hoping it'll do that again and I don't really like playing without any mods lol.

@jallabeeee Here's a test method for narrowing down problem CC: 50-50
- jallabeeee9 months agoNew Novice@luthienrising thank you!! so far adding things in piece by piece seems to be working so hopefully I can narrow down what piece of cc is broken. very annoying I have to do this but it has to be done if I want to play it lol. sims can be so temperamental sometimes

@jallabeeee It can make for a good opportunity to get your mods better organized, at least!
