sims 4 unable to press any buttons on mac

I'm not sure how it happened, might be my mods/cc, but I can't press most buttons. All of the characters at the bottom of the screen are gone, as well as the pause/play/2x speed/3x speed. Same as every other button on the bottom. My sim can't interact with any objects or other sims. The only button that works at the top is the help centre which hasn't provided me much help with this issue.
