Sims 4 Will NOT LAUNCH w/ Mods since August 6 2022

Hi there. I have been using mods and CC in my game for a number of years, always keeping them up to date with each update to the game.

As of August 6, 2022, no matter what I do, my Sims game will NOT OPEN with mods or cc activated. I pared down my CC by a lot (still 7000 files) and updated all my script mods individually several times since then, but still cannot get my game even to open if I have mods or cc in the game.

I have changed my sims 4 game to run as admin, in compatibility mode, and it still will not open. It simply appears as a process in Origin in my task manager for HOURS yet I cannot access the game via my task bar, alt-tabbing, etc. No loading screens, nothing.

Yet, when I remove all my saved games and mods, the game loads in less than 10 minutes and runs fine for hours. While it has been an interesting change for me to play with no mods/cc I REALLY miss using my CC collection, custom face and body presets, etc. I am also pretty heartbroken that all my saves had to be removed from the game for it to run.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get sims 4 to open if I have mods and CC in the game's Mods folder? Thanks so much.

If your games runs without mods and CC and won't run with them, then at least one of your mods or CC items is the most likely cause. With as many files as you have, probably more than one.  Almost every time the game gets patched or a new pack comes out, some mods and CC always get broken.  Just paring down how much you have won't fix that unless you find and remove or update whatever is broken.  And the more you have, the more likely something will get broken every time.

So, to get your game to run, then you will have to take the time to go through whatever you have in your mods folder and find whatever is broken and either remove it or update it if an updated version is available from wherever you got the original file.  With as much as you have, it will take a lot of time and effort on your part.

I suggest you start with your mods, as they are most likely to be causing the problem, but you should check your CC too.  You probably don't have all that many mods so you can check them one at the time.  For CC, use the 50/50 method to narrow it down.  A tip to get started:  Since this game is now 8 years old, a lot of older CC has been broken along the way, so look at the file dates on your CC files and check the oldest first.  You're more likely to find many more broken older things that things that were made in the last few years.

At one time, I had nearly 10,000 files in my mods folder but several years ago I did a massive cleanout of things I thought were neat when I downloaded them then never used.  So, look at what you use often and get rid of things you don't.  How I did that was use Sims 4 Studio (S4S) to look at every CC item I had individually in addition to looking at them in CAS.  I found several hundred things that didn't ever show up in the game at all and never had - broken from the start or got broken along the way that I had not noticed having gone missing and got rid of them.  There were others that had broken because of game updates that I had to fix with S4S's batch fix, mostly build objects like beds that got broken when the upgrade options on them were added.  By the time I was done, I had cut my mods folder down by two thirds to around 2,700 files.  The game loads a lot faster and runs a lot smoother now.  I very rarely have any crashes anymore either.  Imo, it is definitely worthwhile to do.

    Hope this helps.
