Sims 4 won't launch if cc/mods are enabled
Hi, so my 156gb hard drive crashed on my laptop (HP Omen RTX, windows 10, with Nvidia GeForce). I replaced it with a new 2Tb hard drive and now Sims 4 will not launch. Specifically, after downloading, it will launch to base game. However, if I click to enable cc/mods, the game crashes and will not launch again. It says it is running in the task manager, but it's actually not. I deleted all my mods, and all 10k pieces of my cc ☹️ However, the game will still not launch so long as it is opted to enable cc/mods. If I click it, it won't open at all. I have no more mods, no more cc at all, but it still won't launch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, both to my hard drive and to an external hard drive to no avail. I have deleted the localthumbcache file and repaired the game several times. I reached out to EA and got no help at all, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. This has been so frustrating!
@Zyirah Try a clean folder and new save:
- Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
- Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.
- Select "New" (assuming you got this far) to make sure that also works
- Exit and copy your save files from out of the old folder into the new fodler
- Launch Sims 4 and see if you can use "Load" to access your previous file.
- If you can't load your previous save, then your save itself has the issue.
- If you can load it, then you can start testing your mods and CC in batches. I recommend doing this in a new test save.
