Sims data

I have to factory reset my laptop and idk if it'll remove all my sims 4 data like my expansion packs and saved games. If I factory reset my laptop will I still have my origin account, expansion packs, and saved games? or will I have to buy the sims again?

  • @b4jii  Your game and packs belong to your EA/Origin account, not your computer.  So you'll be able to download that content again, for free, whenever you're ready.

Your saves and other user-created data are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and this folder is NOT saved anywhere on EA servers.  So if you want to preserve this data, you need to do so manually.  You can copy it to a USB stick or upload it to a free filesharing service (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)  I'd strongly suggest zipping the folder before transferring or uploading it to make the folder smaller and also to protect the data.  Right-click and select Send to > Compressed (.zip) file to zip, and right-click and select Extract when you want to use it again.

  • @b4jii Packs are connected to your origin account and so resetting your laptop will likely mean you'd have to reinstall them but you don't have to rebuy them; however, saves are kept locally onto your computer so, to keep your saves, it's best that you save them/keep a copy somewhere else whilst you complete a factory reset on your laptop and then put them back in the Sims 4 Folder that gets generated when downloading the Sims
