Sims household keeps crashing

Hi! Since a week or so, one of my Sims 4 households keeps crashing. I have tried everything, removed mods and CC, repaired and reinstalled the game, created a new save for this family, deleted cache, but nothing works. When I play with a different household, with all mods and CC downloaded, the game works perfectly fine. For this specific household, the game either crashes or freezes to the point where I cannot switch between sims anymore or click on other sims/objects. This seems to only happen in live mode, not in build mode. I have the BetterException mod installed, but it doesn't list any problems. I'm absolutely loosing my mind over this as I worked so hard on this household and their house.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how I can fix it? I play on a MacBook Air M1. I have a couple of packs installed and some CC content and mods.

  • @joosnaamloos Have you tried narrowing down if it's a certain Sim that's causing the issue or a certain lot ?

To do so create a backup of your save, then split the whole household into single Sims and test all of them if they cause the same issue.

    report back with the results.

  • Thank you so much for the suggestion @crinrict . I already moved the family to a different lot a couple days earlier, but that didn't help. Because this is a household with two adult sims and three kids, I can't test them all out on their own, but I think I did find which sim is the problem! I tested both adult Sims on their own and then added the kids one by one. When I added the last kid (at this point I had one adult Sim and three kids in the household) the game froze after only a minute or so of gameplay.

Could it be that this Sim is the one causing the problems? Would the solution then be to delete them and create a new version of him in CAS?

@joosnaamloos That's probably the easiest solution. If it only freezes when you add that one kid back, delete that Sim and recreate them or if you have an older version in an backup or gallery, just add that one back.
