Social Event Timer Bug!

This issue only occurred, like, last night. My game is outdated, but I repaired the game to see if it was something in my mods folder that needed to be fixed. The only thing that changed was the main menu layout. I removed any recent mods that I had installed and put them in a different folder, specifically an UI mod, but the problem is still there. It's not an issue when it's not a goaled event, but when it is, the "timer" doesn't begin a countdown and plus it's fully green as if I finished all my tasks and the timer went out. It does it for that save regardless or not that I've switched to a different family. For some other events, mod or not, it'll work, but whenever I try and celebrate having a birthday party, this bug continues wherever I am.

Granted, I can still tick off goals and have a successful event when I cancel on the clock icon, but the timer doesn't work, so it's just a distraction whenever I see it.

I could take out the most recent selection of mods, then update my game, but what if the issue still occurs? Because I would test this out on different sim days and on certain hours, but the issue would still remain, which is annoying.

  • HI @omgyamisocringe

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

@crinrict I realized that Longer Parties, More Guests was the culprit, but now my sims won't react to being called to a meal. Unless I own them (am in control of), they won't eat. As far as I know, all the other interactions will work. My fault, if this is considered necro posting. I still was trying to figure it out all while procrastinating the issue.

@crinrict I think I found the answer to that one, too. I had LittleMsSam's No Food Grab mod for NPC's, though I didn't that would count for custom made sims, only EA's.
