Social events menu messed up

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.72.28.1230
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats and dogs, city living, discover university, get together, eco lifestyle, seasons, get to work, get famous, island living, dine out, jungle adventure, outdoor retreat, parenthood, realm of magic, spa day, movie hangout, nifty knitting, laundry day, moscino stuff, cool kitchen, fitness stuff, prefect patio, tiny living, vintage glamour, bust the dust.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Plan any social event or career like acting and doctor (where you join your sim), even ungoaled events.
What happens when the bug occurs? The event menu on the top left is completely bugged and has random symbols all over it. It has a back background instead of white.
What do you expect to see? A menu where I can clearly see the time left, the goals and the progress made.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I have tried repairing the game, disabling my mods etc, but this still happens. please help!

This really looks like something an outdated mod would cause.  I had something similar happen and it was an outdated mod that caused it.

So to make sure, you need to test in a save without mods and cc.  To do that, move your current The Sims 4 folder somewhere safe.  On your desktop, or somewhere else outside the Electronics Arts folder and start a new game.  That will create a new The Sims 4 folder.  Create the new sim, put them on a lot and start any event where you have seen it happen.  If the issue doesn't happen, then shut down and copy just the mods folder over to the new game and restart and try the event again.  If it come back, then it is certainly a mod or cc item causing it and you will need to go through your mods folder to find the culprit.  Depending on how many mods and cc you have, it can take a while.  I would start with the mods first though and make sure you have the latest updated version of those you use.  Once you find and replace or delete what it was, then move your original folder back and give it a try.

Tbh, this looks like something an outdated UI Cheats would cause.  That's what it was when it happened to me.  So if you use that one, try that first.  It was last updated early this month and the current version has been cleared to be ok with the last patch.  So get the updated version and try that.  If it doesn't fix it, then keep trying until you find what is causing it.  You probably ought to do it testing one mod at the time.  You could also try doing it via the 50/50 method to help narrow it down if you use a lot of mods and cc.

If none of that works, come back and let us know and we can try some other things.  If it does work, then come back and let us know too.

    Hope this helps.

  • I'm unsure, but I think it might be when the sim is busy. I had this glitch when I asked a busy sim, but it worked fine with another sim that wasn't.

    Hi all,

I'm closing this thread since it's a few years old already.

Remember you can always create a new one in the relevant section 🙂.
