Some mods/CC are not showing up in CAS

I have Legacy Edition and I am on Mac so I don't know if Legacy Edition is affecting some of the CC that I downloaded to not show up in CAS and that I will only have to download Mods and CC that are compatible with Legacy. Some CC do show up and I am able to put them on my Sims. I do not have subfolders, the resource.cfg file is there, I have the CC in the correct Mods folder, I don't have any zip files in there, and I have the boxes checked in the game options. So what can be the issue?

  • @iibakie  I'm not sure exactly what you're saying, but yes, a lot of custom content is incompatible with the Legacy Edition.  If you see that an item doesn't work and you can't find an older version, you'll just need to do without.

What exactly 'is' the legacy edition?  My cc was working just fine until the 'big update' then things started going downhill.  Was that the legacy edition because as far as EA games goes, I have the 'standard' edition.  Sorry but I also posted this and no response plus I can't ask EA games so I'm sort of sad.

@katinkamom  In November 2019, EA released the Legacy Edition as DLC that would freeze Sims 4 at the previous patch level.  Players who run the LE are playing the game as it existed in October 2019 except with no access to online features.  New packs don't work in the LE, since they need new patches, and mods made for a newer patch level typically don't work either.  Custom content is more variable—it depends on which object the cc item is based on and whether that object has been added or updated since the LE was released.

In Windows, the Legacy Edition is 32-bit, so you can see whether you're running it by checking the Task Manager.  If you're running TS4_x64.exe and it's 64-bit, you're running the standard edition; TS4.exe and 32-bit means the LE.

Which update borked your custom content?  Quite a lot of it broke when High School Years was relased, but the subsequent patches have caused much less damage.

Since I have over 30 years of IT and programming experience, I just did it methodically.  First off, I am using the EA app, so I found how to repair it (you go to your 'my collection' and click the dots on the right hand side, there are some options). I had to do this twice because it errored out  the first time (of course). Then I analyzed the mods and realized which one was responsible so removed and yes, repaired it again. Now I have to go back to my backup mod file and figure out why there are a few missing still but I can always get them back.

    Thank you for asking.
