Stuck on Loading in Progress
After today's patch the game will load and I can select a household, but I can't save, go to build or buy mode, or use a dresser because it says game loading in progress.

Are you using custom content or mods in your game ? If so, have you tried removing those ?
Try removing everything and see if it then works.

Already tried that, even tried scrapping the save and starting over with a new sim, can get as far as moving the sim into a lot but can't do much, the buy mode button as well as the two next to it are blocked and putting the curser over them just shows game loading in progress, same with using a dresser
Have you tried a fresh folder yet ?
If not. try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
