My daughter is having the same problem. We did a little testing and the issue for her, so far, seems to be related to Discover University. She has one save file where she plays a Sim she has going to university and that's the one that is getting the endless loading screen when she tries to exit CAS after making changes. We went into a different save file where a Sim just lived in Willow Creek and we went in and out of CAS over 4 times making changes and then exiting without the problem occurring at all.
Yup... I have mods/CC, but this has never happened to me. I'm playing a household in a dorm at University, and now it happens...
