testingcheats true/on not working?

I hadn't played the sims in about a month or 2 until yesterday, I updated my game and made some sims, I go to place then in a house, try and use freerealestate but it says command failed? I'm not sure if this is to do with the new patch or some mods or cc in my game but it worked when I played it last with mods and cc, just not sure what caused it, ive used testingcheats true/on and tried other commands, stuff like bb.moveobjects works. sometimes it just does a blank space when i do some commands like motherlode. this might just me being stupid.
