The sims 4 game loading in progress, will not save or go to build mode

My sims 4 will not allow me save, go to build mode or go to manage worlds in a played household. Those icons are grayed out and when I hover over them, a message pops up saying “game loading in progress” only one of my played households allows me save when playing but all of the other ones aren’t working. I even loaded a new game and it’s the same thing.I don’t really know what could have caused this but it has been happening for about two months now. I tried everything from a thread I found including repairing the game, loading a new game, I even tried the sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas cheat and went to manage worlds from there, transported one of my households and the problem seemed to be solved but when I sent my sims back home it went back to being grayed out. I have no idea what to do and I have so many households I don’t want to lose anything. SOMEONE HELP! Oh

  • No I haven’t tried that and yes, I do have mods but they are all up to date.

    Hi @Gabbygabee

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

@AliceWheat81 Please rule out the chance that this is being caused by mods or CC:

Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods folder to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it. If you do still have the problem, we can redirect you to a different forum area.

  • Hey if you have the Snb bills mod it could be that!! i just found out from tik tok lol
