It is normal for older books to decrease in royalties over time and eventually give nothing. If the new books you write are not valued as high then you will see an overall decrease in the royalties it gets Notice that not all categories of books have the same payout. Children's books generally don't give much. If you sell a book to Literary digest you get more for that book than you would otherwise. Other books are not affected.
