Unable to mass move a stack from the household inventory

When stacks are in the household inventory you are able to:

  1. Sell the entire stack by clicking and dragging to the sell "bucket"
  2. Move items from the stack one-by-one

However, you cannot move the entire stack. This is understandable because technically you can't place multiple chairs in 1 location (without cheats), but when there is a stack in a Sim's inventory you can move the stack to another sim's inventory or into storage (i.e., fridge) for items that make sense to do so (harvestables, upgrade parts). This is the scenario that I am looking to bring up in the official EA Sims 4 forums.

Being unable to do this in the household inventory is time consuming/cumbersome when a Sim dies and they leave mass amounts of items from their inventories. I'm interested in keeping the items and not selling them, but right now I have no real choice unless I want to spend 30 RL minutes placing these on the ground!

Is this something on EA's radar?

  • @Zombnom I agree, there are some improvements that would be nice for the deletion/sale and mass move of inventory. I think you have some great ideas and it would be a good idea to post them on the feedback/suggestion thread at this link: https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/the-sims-4-feedback

I have had issues at times in personal inventory with harvestable items getting 'stuck' and blocking the ability to sell the stack in bulk or to sell specific items. If this is part of your issue let me know and I can walk you through getting past that.

One aspect of selling from individual inventory for harvestables to mention if you are working on that... last I knew you cannot sell a stack in bulk until you get the number of items under 99. If it said 99+, in my experience, I had to sell them one at a time until the number got under 99, then I could do it in bulk. That is... if you don't have any items at the top of the stack that are 'stuck'. That's another whole fun thing. (I spent well over a RL hour selling my harvestables that had made my household bills just over $165,000 once... and they were millionaires afterward with normal bills. Real story - don't hoard in Sims. 😉 )

Will do! 🙂 I was seeing some older threads of people asking if this was possible, but not in an appropriate thread to REQUEST this feature. I'll add it, thanks!

My focus with this post was the stacks in the household inventory only... but oh my!! I just used my test household to try and see what you were talking about, the Sim personal inventory is CRAZY when there's item(s) in there that have a stack of 99+!!

@Zombnom When you are clearing out their personal inventory if anything is 'stuck' in the stack it may be stopping you from moving the stack to the sell bucket once it gets under 99. drag the items, one at a time, from the top of the stack into the world until all items are removed from the personal inventory that are stopping you from being able to drag the stack to 'sell'. Then you can ask the sim to sell the item or drag it to sell from the world. I have even had times that I couldn't drag the item to the worlds and had tell the sim to 'place in world' to get it out of their personal inventory. In that case you don't want to re-add the buggy item to any inventory, you just want to sell it. That may or may not be an issue anymore, but if you run into it you can try these things.

@SheriGR, some of my Sims hoard in their inventories, but with those Sims I use money cheats! 😳😃  But you are so right, you get "taxed" for all your inventory items, and if you have a bunch of blackberries or dragonfruit (I think those are some of the big offenders) , it can really add up! 😮  I'm so happy they gave us the ability for Sims with higher Gardening skill to sell their produce right from the plants! :eahigh_file:  That helps a lot! 😇

This is a good point. I usually sell harvestables from the household inventory as inexplicably, they sell for more. I usually use dragon fruit as they sell for a lot. I just had a huge crop of them and it still only let's me sell them by clicking one at a time (I'm on console btw). After 20 years working on computers in my former career and the same amount of time playing Sims daily, I suffer with repetitive strain injury with my wrists and hands so the constant repetitive clicking, well ouch!

Also when moving house if you take the furniture with you, it's soooo slow clearing the household inventory. It lags really really badly. So I don't know if there's a quicker way on PC but on mine that's how it is anyway.

A sell stack option like the one for the personal inventory would be awesome!

What @SheriGR  said, yeah. I've found that if I have a stack of eggs and one egg in the stack is spoiled, you can't move ANY of them to the fridge until you find and sell the spoiled egg.  Ditto for food that you bought from Zoomers and put in your inventory; if you have an empty plate of the same kind of food you can't drag the stack until you find the empty plate (which will look like all the others) and remove it. In other words: yes, look for a single stuck item, ugh.

I HAVE found that I can sell more than 99 produce items out of an inventory or ICYA chest, but it's INSANELY LAGGY LOL. You'll likely have a very "gluey" cursor with an image of the item for a very long time while the game figures out how to handle it.

Add in the “auto harvest into household inventory bug” and it’s almost unplayable. As the veggies sell for way more in household inventory and it’s making the rags to riches play boring. 😩

Not sure you guys are still having this issue, but on the off chance that you are.

This is what I do, on PC.

    - Open Household Inventory.

    - Hold down the SHIFT key

    - Select stack.

    - Release SHIFT key.

    - Place selected stack in the "sell" area.

    - A dialogue pops up allowing you to sell as much of the stack you want.

You can also click in the amount box and type in a value.

    - Accept and the identified amount in the stack is sold.

Not sure when this got added but it has been there for a while (at least 6 months?)
