Upgraded Animal Shed not doing the job. 2 cows have runaway.

I've had 2 cows decide to run away, it seems they have apparently gone without food for too long, despite my sim having done an instant upgrade to the shed. The feeder is always shown as full, as it should be, yet the cow is always starving. (When my sim hasn't been able to check in on the cows needs...)

First the plants, then the chicken coops and now the animal shed. This farm is going to be the death of my sim! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is there any workaround for this issue? 🤔
