I haven't found that you need a mod to keep them at bay. They don't seem to visit at all unless it's a friendly visit. That seems to be one of the things vampire lovers complain about most. Besides, you can hang a garlic wreath outside.
I only ever had one come to bite and that was one my sim was interested in. He had kissed her goodbye and left. She was going to bed and he showed behind her, tapped her on the shoulder and when she turned around he bit her on the neck. Then he laughed and disappeared.
