Was getting corrupted mod errors; now it won't open at all
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.98.127.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Vampires, Strangerville, Spooky Stuff, City Living, Dream Home Decorator, Paranormal Stuff Pack, Island Living, Get Famous, Holiday Celebration Pack, Get To Work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a bunch of mods/cc in the mods folder (it won't specifically tell me which ones as the error messages no longer exist)
What happens when the bug occurs? I try to load the gem and it closes with no error message
What do you expect to see? The game either booting correctly or giving me an error message telling me which mod/cc is corrupted
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I gave the game the most recent update, as well as deleting content implicated with the error messages.
I use a lot of CC and some mods. The newest patch has taken issue with this. I was reading the error messages that appeared on load and deleting the CC implicated, but the error messages no longer appear and the game just won't open anymore.
If it was still a CC issue or a mod issue, I assume it would continue to give me error messages so I can delete the ones causing problems and not all of them, but it doesn't. I don't know the names of the files well enough to just try to save the ones I'm actively using, either.
Also, when this started the other day, I was moving chunks of files into the mods folder after clearing it. After rage-quitting and redoing some of the work, the game stopped loading again with only the files I had already tested in the mod folder. So, it kind of seems like the game itself is corrupting the files in the mod folder. I can't prove this, but it seems pretty likely considering those files were already tested.
I've deleted the localthumbcache several times; the file isn't even propagating when the game fails to load. None of my saves are suing any of my most recent CC downloads, but it doesn't even matter because the game fails to load well before it has a chance to touch the save files.
It would be cool if the game could be patched, fixing whatever it was that apparently made all CC unusable. I lack the patience to weed through file by file when everything worked perfectly fine last month, and I don't do vanilla anything if I can help it.
EDIT: Another dumb thing to complain about: none of the actual mods seem to be a problem regardless of their age. (Some are nearly a year old)
2ND EDIT: I put some files in the mods folder again, checking if they work until it didn't. I removed the ones I just added, and.... The game won't open. With mods it was just running with 3 minutes ago. I took the batch before that (that was also tested) out as well and deleted the localthumbcache file, still won't open.
