Whenever I open the game and try to close a pop-up my game freezes

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open the game, wait for a pop-up, try to exit out of the pop-up
What happens when the bug occurs? I see a pop-up, I click the "x" on the pop-up, my game freezes
What do you expect to see? I see a pop-up, I click the "x" on the pop-up, the pop-up closes
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Okay so I got a new laptop today, a Dell, if that matters. I instantly downloaded the sims 4 and transferred my entire mods folder/game from my old laptop. The problem is that whenever I open the game now, there's a pop-up of whatever, and when I try to close the pop-up or really click anything on it, my game freezes. I've tried doing this with the mods folder removed, and that solved the problems, but I have 33gb of cc and mods, and can't play the game without them. Thanks!

**EDIT:** okay so after playing around with my mods folder, I realized that my problem was that i had two "resource.cfg" files, so after deleting one, I was good
