When I download a career, does it go in mod or tray

Sims main menu screen doesn’t load and is a black screen.
This new update seems to have messed up a lot of people’s stuff. My game stopped loading 2 hours ago. My main menu stays blank and won’t load when clicked on any options.

Was there no way to identify this issue would happen? I may be wrong but I feel like if playtesters were used to test out updates before theyre fully released we wouldnt have issues like this happen ...
