Why are my Sims are disappearing from the game?

I have no idea how this occurs. I have a massive family tree on my sims game, there are 5 generations currently. Basically, in the third generation there were four kids, but now when I click on the genealogy only three kids show up. The child that disappeared has also made his children disappear as well. There isn't really much more to say. If you have questions, just ask.

There should be a screenshot attached to show you what the family tree should look like.

When you look at your households in Manage Households, in the lower right of the My Households tab panel, there is your Sim Count.  It is the number of sims that you have in the My Households tab of Manage Households and those are your played sims.  What is that number?

Below the Sim Count is a button for Maximum Sim Count.  When you click on the button, you have 3 choices.  What is your Maximum Sim Count set on:  80, 150 or unlimited?  Btw, the Maximum Sim Count number does not include the sims that are in the Other Households tab panel.

If your Maximum Sim Count is set to 80 or 150, then when the number of sims you have tries to go above that number, then sims will be culled at some point.  And when sims get culled, it's almost always a household that is not active and the entire household gets culled.  It does not cull just one of two sims from a household, it's the entire household so it could be 1 to 8 sims that go missing.

As @crinrict said, there are still issues with the family tree so you can't really rely on it showing things correctly at times.  But when a sim portrait disappears from the family tree, that means the sim is completely gone from the save.  There is no way to get them back unless you happened to save them to your Library before they disappeared.

There is one other thing that could be going on if you use any mods like MCCC that allow more than 8 sims in a household.  If you take a household with more than 8 sims in it to CAS, CAS will only allow 8 and delete the rest.  And when that happens, the deleted sims portraits are deleted from the family tree.  So, do you any mods that allow more than 8 sims in a household and if so, were the missing sims in households of over 8 sims?

    Hope this helps.

Hi @crinrict, thank you so much for replying!! To answer your questions I'm actually not entirely sure, I tried doing a cheat "resetSim 'sims name'" and the cheat bar said "Sim can't be found" (or something like that) but then I went to the household of the person he married and he still appears next to her (I re-married them when he was a ghost) but he is no longer connected to the family tree.

The only mods I have is the MC Command Centre mod and I'd flagged both of them to not cull.

@popcorn2230 Do they show as still married ? What about the kids that got lost ?

Culled Sims should still be in the family tree but the family tree does still have issues afaik.

    Hi @crinrict

So the 3rd generation sim has disappeared completely and I can't find anywhere, as his wife is also dead. The 4th generation sim (the one who I can only find on his wife's family tree) is lost on the main family tree, I'm assuming because the 3rd generation sim disappeared. The 4th generation sim didn't have any kids.

I'm hoping this makes sense, if not I'll send images to help because I think I'd be very confused reading that but I don't know how to better explain it.

Edit: I got some pictures to explain it better, hope this makes it more clear!
