Are you pressing the button in the middle of the controller? The Black Button in the middle of the Playstation Controller will cause the cursor to disappear. After the cursor disappears, the thumb sticks only let you scroll over everything on the side of the screen.
One of the more recent things I encountered is the cursor disappearing while in gameplay. I ended up getting my cursor back by going to the main menu. Took a bit of patience to get there. I do know that this happened shortly before the game became free.
Do to some personal reasons, I haven't been playing the game.
I'm kinda in limbo and looking for a way to move forward with playing the Sims. Helping another player, I can't think of a better reason to go into the game again.
If you want, I can go into my game and see if I can replicate your problem and find a solution. Right now, I'm at a dead end with my favorite gameplay and need something to fill the time.
