Alt/Option Key Not Working

Hi! I have kind of a unique problem, so I don't know where to ask for help...

They key issue is that I can't get the Alt/Option key to work in-game to place objects without them snapping to the grid.

A bit of a long backstory (I'll try to keep it short) to explain my current issue:

I sometimes play using an iPad (Luna Display makes the iPad function as an external monitor and then I use my iMac's keyboard and mouse) and it works just fine. I do that on weeknights most of the time when I'd rather sit on the couch instead of at a desk (since I was working at one for 8 hours already). This set up works, but it's a bit cumbersome having three items out there, trying to balance the iPad on its crappy SmartCover stand, keyboard on my lap, etc. So I bought a Brydge keyboard to solve that problem! The iPad slides into the Brydge and it basically looks like a laptop. Now my iPad stays upright and the keyboard is attached and sturdy. It's the perfect solution! EXCEPT, the Sims isn't recognizing the Alt/Option key on the Brydge keyboard. I tried SHIFT+OPTION (thinking maybe I needed to modify the Option key to make it Alt). No matter what I try, I can't place items off-grid.

I tested the Alt/Option key outside of the Sims game to see if maybe the key itself was broken, but outside of the Sims, it works fine.

I know it's a weird and unique problem, but does anyone have any ideas I could try? (@Bluebellflora, I know you're the resident Sims for Mac expert if you have any ideas?)

Well, not an expert, more like an Apple nut 😉

So you have the iPad slotted into the Brydge keyboard and it effectively looks like a laptop but these are external peripherals and your Mac is actually running it next to you using the screen and keyboard? That's brilliant! But it sounds like you need to check keyboard mapping. Can you assign Alt/Option to another key?
