Can't open Sims 4, stuck on on "Verifying 'The Sims 4.app"

I can no longer launch sims 4 on my mac laptop and always get stuck on the "Verifying 'The Sims 4.app" loading screen.

Here's some of the troubleshooting I've already tried:

-resetting the Origin app

-doing a "hard uninstall" of the Origin app, clearing the cache and any record of the app from my computer and then reinstalling

-moving the sims 4 game files to my desktop (this was suggested by customer service)

I've already contacted customer service but they always re-assign my case each time I reply and no one reads the chat history, so I mostly am getting the same troubleshooting suggestions repeatedly or people asking me to re-explain what the problem is. This time the representative asked me to make a post on the forum to see if other users could help or in hopes the developers might notice it (since I guess it's too much to ask for the people they tell you to contact to actually be able to help you solve a problem)

Would appreciate any suggestions I haven't already tried, or suggestions on how to get better help from EA customer service.

    You also have an Intel Iris Plus 655 graphics chip. Whilst your specs aren't uber low, your Mac will struggle if you have all settings on high with lots of CC/Mods adding more functionality and rendering to the game. The more you add, the laggier it will become.
