I had the same issue, turning off full screen mode seemed to fix it. But now my game is incredibly slow and crashes in build mode. I have taken out all CC + mods, deleted cache etc etc. I have more than enough free storage space on my macbook. I am currently running Catalina 10.15

specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

2,2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Macintosh HD

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
