Half-Black Screen - Sims 4 Crashes When Launching

Hi all, When I try to launch The Sims 4, my screen goes half black and my whole computer crashes. I'm running Sierra 10.12.6 and my OS cannot be updated any further. Here's what I've done so far: ...

    So even though my Mac said no updates were available to my OS when I checked, the Apple website says that any system running Sierra can run High Sierra.  I installed that, and The Sims 4 launched with no problem!
