laptop and mac

i have put sims 4 on my external harddrive its on my laptop but i also want to play it on my mac to but when ive tried to put the same destination folder for the game as it does on the laptop it seem...

    Windows and macOS have completely different operating systems and file structures. C and D drive do not exist for macOS, the mounted drives is called Volume, as you stated. You need to download the Mac version of the game from Origin onto that drive, the Windows game you currently have installed on the external cannot be read by your Mac.

Hi well what’s happened is I’ve put it on the rxternal harddrive via my laptop all fine on the external harddrive but I want to be able to play the same sims 4 game on my Mac but is dosnt seem to be able to load the game on the mac

I understand. Origin must be installed on your Mac and you must download the game again as there is a PC version and a Mac version.

    Hi yes I have Origion on both machines and sims 4 on my external harddrive but I wanted to use the sims 4 I have on the external harddrive on the Mac to so I’m playing the same game on both macines as well so will I have to make an separate folder on the external drive for the Mac

      So you're referring to the game data (saves etc.) and not the actual game? Your Sims 4 folder, where your saves, tray files and all that stuff, must be local on your Mac in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

      You can install the game on your external but firstly go into the Origin settings and tell it where your installed games should be.

        Hi no I’ve put the actual game on my external drive I’ve told the laptop where I want it to go but it seems to be Mac as the directory seems to be different on the laptop it’s dsimssims4 on the laptop but it seems to be something like volumes sims 4
