Missing shadows in my game
I don't understand how to fix this, but I have no sun shadows in my game...! ☹️
Whenever I try to build using skylights, I have to remove a part of the roof in the room where the skylight is going to be. Whenever I have watched youtube tutorials on this, the creators get nice little patches of light streaming in through the hole in the roof. What happens in my game, though, is that the entire room is suddenly sun-lit (i.e. completely bright, as if there was no roof there at all) instead of just the square/patch where the roof is removed.
I am playing the sims 4 mostly purely for home building, and this is thus very frustrating. I have tried looking up how to fix it for days now, and I'm really hoping someone here might be able to help me. I apologize if it's a dumb question to some, but I am relatively new to this and don't really have any excessive knowledge on graphic cards or w/e and such, so hopefully you'll have me excused.

(Btw, I am playing via Origin on a 13" retina macbook pro, if this is relevant/any help)
