Origin game transferred to external ssd?

Hello, I hope this is understandable and I can receive an accurate response. I have origins on my laptop, I play sims 4 on it. After running this game for 240 hours I noticed a difference in performance with my game. My laptop is a MacBook Pro i7, space isn’t a issue yet but the game does take up lots of space. I was hoping if someone can let me know if I am able to purchase an external ssd and play my origin games through that ssd when I want to play through my laptop. So I do not need to have the game installed on my laptop.

Yes, absolutely you can. If your Mac has USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports make sure you get an equivalent drive then the transfer speed will not be an issue.

Which version of macOS are you running? There have been issues with Catalina and installing the game on an external drive. You will also need to keep the Sims 4 user data folder local on your Mac as the game will not read it on an external drive without some jiggery pokery in Terminal.
