Origin will not install update or launch (mac)

Origin had been working fine until today when I tried to launch it said it requires an update. I clicked update and was taken to the updating screen and then after less than a minute it disappears and a file called "staged" is open in my dock next to the Origin icon and both are frozen (it won't even let me 'force quit'). I've tried a million things like manually uninstalling all the files several times, using ResetOrigin, reinstalling a bunch of times, reinstalling under a new account, launching it through the website, turning off my browser's adblockers, changing the screen resolution, and anything else I saw in the forums.

I have a macbook pro mid-2014 version 10.11.6

    Hi Kristi,

    I had already tried creating a new user and that did not work. I have just solved my issue though by updating my mac to OS Seirra.

    @ashjofree Could you please safe boot your Mac and then try the installation? You could also try installing Origin from a new user account: 

    • Create a second user account on your Mac by going to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
    • Click on the lock to make changes, enter your password then click on the + below the list of current users.
    • Follow the prompts to create a new Administrator account (not a Standard account).
    • Log out of your account and into the new account you have created. Check if you can install Origin

    Hi Kristi,
