Origin/Sims 4 not working

Hey all, hoping someone can help me out. So of course I was forced to download The Sims 4 Legacy Edition, and haven't been able to launch the game since last week. I'm not tech savvy, and was told by customer service to uninstall and reinstall Origin, which I've done, but now I get notification that my Mac/Apple cannot support the game or something along those lines. Origin won't launch on my laptop, and I'm pretty annoyed seeing as I've spent a lot of money downloading all of the game expansions and now I can't even play the game. Can anyone help me out/explain in simple terms on how I can fix this? Also purchasing a new laptop to support the new updates is not financially possible right now (my current Mac is about 7/8 years old). Thank you!
