Great. One more thing. Is your drive directly plugged into your Mac with one cable or have you attached an adapter, for example USB-A to USB-C?

It is directly plugged into my Mac with one cable.
The reformatting of the drive and redownloading of the sims and the packs hasn't worked unfortunately, the bug is still there. Not sure what to do next ☹️

To clarify, it’s not a bug. It’s a system issue not helped by how rubbish Origin is. Maybe move other stuff from your Mac to the external drive and install the game locally on your machine?
