Re: Game Data Incomplete, grey llamas, red and white sims, broken textures

@christianmunxz

Apple have never produced a 12" Apple silicon "M" chip machine. Please can you provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so and what to provide here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162

Can you post a screenshot of the error in-game including the whole game window and UI?

When you deleted the Electronic Arts folder, what content did you move into the newly created Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder that was created?

How did you uninstall the game and how did you uninstall Origin?

Are you using any 3rd party apps to "clean up" your Mac?

    Thanks for your reply,

    My apologies I meant to say 13-Inch, M1, 2020.

How did you uninstall the game and how did you uninstall Origin?

I uninstalled the game through origin by clicking uninstall. I uninstalled Origin by moving it to the trash from applications and emptying the trash bin. I do have there paid version of "CleanMyMac" and ensured all files were properly deleted.

When you deleted the Electronic Arts folder, what content did you move into the newly created Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder that was created?

I didn't move any content into the newly created Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

I am downloading to an external 3 terabyte hard drive there is plenty of space remaining.

I just reinstalled Cats & Dogs for screenshots

Oh no. You’re the fourth person in around a month with a broken installation who has used CleanMyMac. It’s such an awful piece of software that is completely unnecessary on a Mac. This is how you should uninstall or reset Origin https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Mac-Client-Technical/Clearing-Origin-cache-on-Mac-the-correct-way/m-p/12352783#M137370

I highly recommend getting rid of CleanMyMac and as a precaution reinstalling the OS. It should install over the top of any files that are corrupted or missing but backup as a precaution.

Could you please give me a link to the exact external drive and connection you are using? I wonder if it’s not fast enough which is causing the corruption.

Thanks, and great you've removed the app 🙂

I'm pretty sure the problem you're having is your drive. It's not fast enough for the read/write speeds the game needs to run properly so data is easily getting corrupted. I've experimented with a lot of drives and have found that the only drive that effectively runs the game well, with no lag and no corruption is a USB 3.2 with USB-C connection. The maximum read/write speeds you will be getting with USB 3.0 is around 480 Mb/s whereas USB 3.2 is around 1,000 Mb/s.

It's always worth wiping and reformatting the drive too, getting rid of any unnecessary software on the drive that the manufacturer ships with and making sure it is formatted in a fully Mac friendly format, preferably APFS. This Apple article on Disk Utility is helpful https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/disk-utility/dsku19ed921c/20.0/mac/11.0
