Re: sims 4 lagging on mac

@blahlahblah

Follow these steps to launch a new clean game and see if it still lags with a brand new save. Do not copy any of the contents of your current Sims 4 folder to the newly created one yet  - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M163

How much storage is available on your Mac? About This Mac > Storage.

Check the bug forum too. If your lag isn't caused by ageing hardware (possible) it may be the usual simulation lag that is often reported and an ongoing issue https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs

    Hi! Thanks for replying. I have 250 GB in total and still have 39.62 GB available. Would I need more storage? I will launch a clean game and see if it works. However, I don't have a lot saved and I never use mods or anything like that. Thanks for the help!

    Nah, ~40GB free is fine. Always helps to close any other apps running and background apps like music streaming or storage when you play. I've found that anything Google related such as Chrome or Drive uses up vast quantities of RAM - they're VERY greedy! So if your 16GB RAM is being all used up and the machine is using lots of virtual memory on the hard disk this will definitely affect game performance.
