- I am having this problem also. When I right click on the sims cover there is no repair option. I don't want to uninstall my game because I don't want to lose my saved game data. Any suggestions?

Hi @AdysonMcBride,
If you have this problem an the Repair option is not available, you'll need to fully reinstall the game. This issue can only be solved with the Repair option or reinstalling the game.

Hi Adyson,
I assume your right clicking from the "My Home" page
Try and right click on the "My Game Library" page and it should come up with repair from there.
Best Wishes
🥳

- Anonymous8 years agoSo I’m having a similar problem. I have a corrupt file in which I am unable to open my sims game. I have tried deleting the file, repairing the game, and uninstalling and reinstalling the sims. Is there anything I can do???
- Hey, I have reinstalled the game twice and tried to repair it multiple times, any idea how to help?
- @nicole148293
Run the Origin reset tool - https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/ - My game did the same thing, I uninstalled both the game and the origin plus I repaired the game, still there was no change when I reinstalled them, I had to move my sims mod folder to the desk screen, then it started back working, You just have to go through the file and upload the downloads back into the game without putting the corrupt file back in.
I hope this helps.... - Anonymous7 years ago
I'm sorry to bother you, but I did do this and it didn't work.
@HoneySoyRose It's not a bother—we're here to help. But perhaps it would be better if you could start your own thread describing exactly what's happening with your game (when it fails to load, any error messages you see), as well as the steps you've taken to try to fix it so far. This way, it will be easier for people to help you without getting your posts confused with previous responses, and easier to avoid repeating advice that you've already tried.

Hello,
I have the same problem. I went through all my cc and every single one of them comes up with corrupted. I have downloaded a cc cleaner, and I also repaired and reinstalled my game. Is there anything you can do?
@Eurisko_Kaeso Your cc may be incompatible with your patch level, or you might have a corrupt file somewhere in your TS4 game folder. To cover all of your bases, you can drag that game folder out of Documents and onto your desktop. When you launch the game again, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Load a new save and play for a bit, just to make sure everything works, and then you can download a mod or cc file that is confirmed compatible with the latest patches. Test it out in-game; if it shows up, you can start adding more cc into the new game folder.
It's a good idea to test the content out in batches; if one batch doesn't work, you'll need to split and test again until you find the problem file(s). Keep in mind that you might need to replace most or all of your existing cc. Even one bad file can block all of them from appearing in-game, or even prevent the game from loading at all.
If your game won't even load with a clean folder, please post your computer's specs here, as described in the post below. Please also list the packs you have installed.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, but I have already tried that. I am going to see if there is something I can install for it. It is just super annoying since I love sims and without cc its just not the same.
There are no CC cleaner programs for the Mac OS. Instead you'll have to either run it in Bootcamp or a Windows emulation program. This also requires you to have a copy of Windows.
As @puzzlezaddict advised you should go back and check the websites where you downloaded your CC from and download new copies. You'll have to do this each time new content, patches or updates come out for the game. If you own a lot of CC, pick the few pieces you can't live without. Same with mods.

thank you
Just another note due to the 11-13-2018 patch, most mods will no longer work once you update to the current patch as EA/Maxis has updated their version of Python so that this update affects Core Script Mods. Please check back with the Creators of these mods to see if they have updated them to work with the current patch or are working to update them. In the meantime, simply remove all mods from the game until they are updated.
- Anonymous7 years agoHey @AdysonMcBride. I was having the same problem. All you have to do is go to the option 'My game library", find TheSims4, right click and then an options bar will come down, find the 'repair' option and click it. Hope this helps!

I have repaired the game but the message, stating...
Unable to Start:
Cannot start because the below file appears to be corrupted.
If this file is a mod, please remove it and try again. If not ,
please repair or reinstall the Sims 4 via Origin.

I have found the mod and deleted it, but it seems to still be there.

Trash the localthumbcache.package file in your Sims 4 folder then repair the game again. Hi,i have the same "corrupted file" issue and ive reinstalled the game and it still says it,ive deleted the file and it still says it,and when i repair it the loading thing never ends up finishing also just today i tried reparing it and it said verifying game files or preparing and it was loading for like 3 hours and i dont know what to do, please help if u can. 🙂
@natasha88138689 , try moving the entire Sims 4 folder (Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4) to your Desktop and do NOT delete it! This is where your saved games are store. Next start up the game to see if it still stuck at loading the game. The game will regenerate a new Sims 4 folder. If your game loads and comes to the starting menu, remember that none of your saved games, CC or mods will be present at this time. Start up a new game to see if the game starts correctly and that there are no other issues present at this time. Play for about an hour and quit the game.
If the game started up ok and played ok, then it is probably a mod that is out of date or a piece of CC that is either a very high poly count or out of date as well. Before adding any mods back, check the sites you downloaded them from and make sure that they have been updated to work with the latest patched version of the game. (Last patch was dated 12/20/2018). Once you have insured you have the latest versions, add each mod back one at a time, start up the game and make sure that it loads and starts up correctly. Repeat this process until you have added all your mods back and verified that they all work and your game starts and plays without issues. Same with your CC. You can add back a few pieces at a time (I recommend no more than 10), start your game and verify that all is working ok. Unfortunately there is no program written for the Mac OS that will check your CC for "bad" content. You will manually have to cull your CC by hand.
If this does not solve your problems, please post your Mac Specs here. Do not post your Serial Number! Here is the link on how to find that information if you need to do so.
Please keep us posted.

Set up a new user account on your Mac and see if you can play a brand new clean game in that account. - you have to click the settings button
Go into your mods file and in the message it said what was causing the issue, find that in mods and right click to find the delete option then delete it and your game should work. It worked for me. Good luck 👍🏼
This same thing happened to me a while ago. Since you don’t want to reinstall your game, is go on Origin and click the cover. Then press settings and the repair icon should show!
