Sims 4 Crashing after new update

thank you. when i tried to play my sims game, i clicked on my current household and "play" and as it was loading it crashed. i removed all mods and custom content, but it still crashed on this game. i tried making a new game, and when i did, it let me make new sims and save the household. but, upon trying to actually play, the game was glitching as parts were gone. what i mean by this is, all of the things on the bottom of the screen disappeared, such as my sims, inventory, work, friends etc. all of these buttons disappeared, as well as it wouldnt let me hit the three dots at the top right of the screen. hope that makes sense! im trying to redownload the game and see if that has any luck. sad though that i had to lose all of my progress in the game i have been playing for months.
