SIMS 4 edge scrolling not working on mac

Hi, I've just purchased my daughter a MacBook, she's been playing Sims 4 for a couple of years with no issues on her PC laptop. Now the edge scrolling isn't working and she's refusing to play the game. I've noticed this has been an issue on macs for years, surely there's been an update to fix this issue if it's been such a problem for years?

    And using the arrows isn't a fix in her eyes. Also changing from full view doesn't do the trick either.
