Sims 4 stuck in windowed mode, impossible to apply changes to fullscreen option

Hi all,

After a few months of having this issue I think I'm going insane.

I have just uninstalled and reinstalled the game all fresh to solve another issue (which worked) and was hoping it would fix this bug but it didn't.

Here's what happens: My game is stuck in windowed mode.

Everytime I launch it, even when it looks fullscreen, it's actually a windowed fullscreen and my dock gets triggered when i get close to the UI, and the edgescrolling doesn't work.

I've gone to the game options to change it to fullscreen, I change the option, click apply changes, get the little box to confirm the changes aaaaand... the option goes back to windowed.

It just won't apply it.

I've tried using the -f command in the game properties in Origin. Still the same issue.

I've tried changing the fullscreen option in the options.ini file, to no avail.

I've tried the keyboard shortcuts to toggle between the options. Still not a true fullscreen and always the "windowed" option selected in the game options.

I've repaired the game files. Deleted the options.ini files. Reinstalled the game. Restarted Origin. Restarted my computer. It just. Won't. Work.

I don't know what to try anymore, I just want to be able to use edgscrolling and play my game in actual fullscreen mode ☹️

Please help, I'm losing my mind and can't find anyone with the same issue online.
