Sims 4 won't load (Mac)

Hi! My Sims game won't load.

A few days ago I started having some issues with the origin application (I'm on Mac), so today I found a series of steps to reset origin. Surprisingly, it worked! When it reset, it automatically re-downloaded the Sims 4, and updated. I also bought a new pack. When I then went to run Sims 4 however, the loading screen was getting stuck. I had sound on so I could hear as the sound cut in and out. Occasionally, the whole screen goes black except for a thin bar of the loading screen at the very top. Because of this, I've had to shut down my computer over and over again. I feel as though I've exhausted all options, and I didn't back up any save files of my game. I'm feeling pretty stuck here. Any suggestions?

@Bluebellflora So I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017), 1.8GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB graphics, and I'm on version 10.15.5 macOS Catalina. I'm on the normal version of the game, and I've hit repair game about 3 times (each time was after I tried some new way of hopefully fixing the issue). I don't use any CC or Mods, and I'm running Bitdefender antivirus for Mac.

I've searched through the whole folder and I can't seem to find anything that says GameVersion.txt. Is there any other name it could be under? I really wish I could give more information, I just can't make sense of all the files within the sims 4 folder on my computer.

Can you disable your antivirus and try again? A screenshot of the black bar that pops up (if it still happens) would be good to see too.

The GameVersion.txt file should be in the Sims 4 folder where your saves, screenshots, tray , mods and other user data is 🙂
