sims 4 wont load past "verifying files" MAC

Hi,

i bought the sims 4 back in 2018 for my Mac and it worked for about an hour and ever since then it hasnt. it gets stuck on "verifying files" & "cancelling".

Ive tried everything i can find on google (re downloading, clear caches ect) and nothings worked. I even tried to buy an expansion pack to see if that would help but it has not. Has anyone successfully fixed this issue?
