Oh no! Try setting up a new user account on your Mac - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mtusr001/mac and try playing a brand new clean game in that account. If it works add your old save in and see if it works. If it happens with that save well, I think you may need to bin it ☹️

@Bluebellflora Ok I will try it! What does having a new user change for the game.
I also just noticed in crinrict’s link he was taking about slot 000001 being the culprit but I don’t have that, mine start with 2. Like it’s saved in the first slot but in my saved folder it starts with 2

slot_00000001.save is not used anymore. That's the autosave that was ditched a while ago.
If you have this now (and on a mac), it's like something else than it was back then.

Creating a new user is like a brand new game, which is the only way to properly troubleshoot issues.
